The weather was kind to us, and following weeks of rain and wind, the sun came out to warm the aching bones of seventeen OAP's who were blackmailed into making the journey to Daventry to expend energy and pension funds on meeting up with more old men to listen to the latest woes and oldest jokes and try to play some geriatric golf.

 

We attracted four guests this year, Terry Warriner, Ken Smith, Keith Lawrence and David 

Dexter, and believe it or not, they all have expressed a desire to join us again next year.

 

The golf course proved to be a challenge for most of us. It was in very good condition and an interesting layout with several dog leg holes,but was not an easy walk for those who declined a buggy on the first day, so day two saw all but Bob Blake riding the course. The Hotel staff were very accommodating and we were looked after well enough.

The general overall opinion of the two days was one of satisfaction, we all thought that the golf course was interesting, if testing, in good condition and well worth another visit, maybe next year if most of us survive the next 12 months! A straw poll during the chips and sandwiches suggested next year  should be around the same as 2019, but in January we will ask the question as to where and when would be the most acceptable venue.
